Counselling

Our counselling services is tailored to support isolated and vulnerable individuals and those with mental health issues, so as to enable them to participate fully in their community, age with dignity and independence.

We believe our clients deserve the best advice and support needed for a fulfilled life, so as to achieve the desired goal of top-quality standard in health and social care service delivery. That’s why our consultation strategies include a clear set of choices, with actionable advice, including what the path to implementation will look like and how it can be delivered. We tie ourselves to your  objectives and outcomes and stay with you throughout the journey, ensuring detailed work through personal problems with our patients.

We understand the need for the right mix of expertise, social care and clinical engagement and we actively work with stakeholders including clinicians, directors, managers and administrators to ensure that the proposed outcomes are understood.

Our services are designed to help our client derive quality, value and innovation, to improve outcomes that will help them integrate seamlessly back into the community

Services Offered By Community Counselling and Mental Health Outpatient Program:

  • Psychiatric Consultation (requires a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner)
  • Psychiatric Consultation for youth ages 17 & under (requires a referral from physician or nurse practitioner)
  • EPI- Early Psychosis Intervention

Confidentiality

All counselling requests are handled in the strictest of confidence. In order to protect your confidentiality, your written approval is required prior to the release of any information either verbal or written, except in circumstances where the legal system requires disclosure.

Any declarations regarding risk to others or other illegal activities may require disclosure to the legal system.

Your personal health information is protected under the “Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004” (PHIPA). This law sets out the rules that we as healthcare providers must follow when collecting, using and sharing your personal health information.

This law also gives you the right to:

  • Give permission to how your personal health information is collected, used and shared.
  • Request access to your health records

Mentoring

The purpose of mentoring is to encourage, support and guide employees and volunteers in their positions so that they will continue to grow personally and professionally. Mentors are coaches, advisors, friends, cheerleaders and counsellors.

Mentoring can improve health culture, productivity and efficiency. With improved communication and job satisfaction, mentoring can have a positive impact on patient care and the overall performance.

Caring mentors who provide encouragement and support can help others navigate the challenges of working in a health and social care setting. A mentor is a good listener who can offer advice and friendship in a trusted relationship.

Mentoring offers the opportunity for:

  • Increased knowledge and understanding of shared governance.
