Induction Policy

Policy Statement

Bright Brains Global Ltd will ensure that all employees receive, over a period of time, an organized introduction to their job, and their new environment.

Definition

The process of introducing new employees to their new job role, in the Organization.

Purpose

To avert problems that can arise (such as accidents, mistakes, absenteeism, high labor turnover, etc.) if employees are not fully acquainted with their work situation, their colleagues, important rules and so on, and the benefits that can be obtained through adequate preparation and instruction (such as improved satisfaction, motivation and performance).

Procedure

Pre- Employment

Induction begins with the first contact with the potential employee, and this is usually during the recruitment and selection process.

Interviews

  • Clear details of the time, place, format and expected duration of interviews will be given to all applicants selected for interview;

  • Where applicants are required to bring items such as examples of their work, or evidence of qualifications, then this will be clearly stated;

  • Interviews will be structured in such a way that the Interviewer and the Interviewee have ample opportunity to assess whether the job and the applicant are well matched;

  • Applicants invited for interview are guests and will be treated as such at all times. Plan for their arrival and make them feel welcome.

Induction programmes for new employees

Bright Brains Global Induction programmes will vary, in their content and their emphasis, according to the nature and the seniority of the position held.  It is not possible, or desirable, therefore to produce a single “one size fits all” induction programme which will be suitable and appropriate for all staff.

All inductions will however follow a similar pattern with certain elements which are common to all.

In general terms induction will cover:

  1. The responsibilities of the job, how it relates to the work of others, and who depends on the successful completion of the tasks, and an introduction to fellow workers;
  2. Bright Brains Global, its client base, its special features etc.;
  3. Pay and benefits;
  4. Statement of expectations and the anticipated review procedure.

In addition, Bright Brains Global will endeavor to follow, at all times, the Induction standards set out by the CQC, and which require that Induction covers:

  1. the aims, objectives and purpose of the service;
  2. information on the people whose care, treatment and support the staff member will be involved in providing and any specific communication needs;
  3. the rights of people who use the service;
  4. the policies and procedures of the service;
  5. the action to be taken in an emergency;
  6. the health and safety risk assessments and any necessary health surveillance, necessary for their work;
  7. how to report adverse events, incidents, errors and near misses;
  8. the arrangements for the staff member’s own support and supervision;
  9. the support and the safety arrangements where they are required to work alone;
  10. the arrangements for reporting where the service falls below essential standards of quality and safety;
  11. an orientation to the systems, culture and terminology of the health or social care sectors in England, where the staff member has been recruited from outside the UK.
